Sleep dentistry is the most effective and easy pain management solution available. All you have to do is lay back and relax. When you awaken the procedure is complete and you will have felt nothing. Imagine going to sleep and waking up with a gorgeous smile!
What is Sleep Dentistry?
Sleep dentistry is the procedure of having the patient unconscious during the dental treatment. It differs from other forms of sedation dentistry in that the patient is fully asleep, feels no pain, and has no recollection of the procedure itself. Sleep dentistry uses oral medication to produce this sleeping state.
At Devonshire Dental, we understand the fear and anxiety of most patients visiting the dentist. Our main goal is to relieve these natural feelings of apprehension by welcoming you our office and providing the most pleasant and comfortable experience and environment. Advances in dental science have allowed us to offer various sedative procedures that produce a safe and deep state of relaxation. This makes it possible for you to undergo a dental procedure without feeling any discomfort or pain. When you wake up, you will feel refreshed; with little to no recollection of the procedures performed.
Is Sleep Dentistry Safe?
Absolutely. We have safely treated numerous patients using sedation for various different dental procedures. Before any treatment, we will carefully review your medical history and explain in detail the steps in the sedation process. Throughout your entire procedure, your blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen level will be carefully monitored. If you are taking any type of medications, please remember to bring them when undergoing sedation. This is a precautionary measure in the case of an emergency.
Will I Really be Asleep During the Procedure?
The majority of our sedation patients fall asleep during their procedure. However, you will be at a conscious level to be able to respond to spoken instructions from the dentist and assistants. Just the right amount of sedatives will be administered to put you in a relaxed and pain free state. During these dental procedures, patients are completely unaware of what is occurring.
